My friend Pius Morger is an artist who builds stunning sculptures and in addition brings them "to life” with sounds composed and performed individually for the various sculptures. The sculptures contain sound transmitting devices which are fed from a custom made MP3 based player and amplifier. My company’s involvement is the design and manufacturing of that MP3 player/amplifier.
Read below what Pius Morger has to tell about his work. All sculptures can be bought at the prices indicated.

Sound Emitting Sculptures by Pius Morger
Amidst the daily hectics the sculptures built by Pius Morger create rooms of inspiration end recreation. They change the perception of the environment and get into contact with the subconsciousness of the listener.
The sounds are played softly and discreet. They are structured like natural noises and sounds, are seldomly rhythmic and change barely noticeable.
The sculptures are brought into resonance through special sound converting devices. Thus the sculptures themselves become the transmitters for the soundwaves.
Through the intended placement of the sound in the room, the form of the sculpture is determined. It is the acoustical moment from which the looks of the sculpture follows.
Due to the calming and inspiring effect, the sound emitting sculptures are especially suited for semi-public rooms where people usually stay for a short while, like e.g. waiting rooms, hotel lobbys, relaxation rooms, wellness areas and not too busy passages.
The sculptures can either be freely placed in the room, like e.g. the "Generalife” or the "Sound Capsule”, or they can be mounted to a wall like e.g. the "Sierra” or the "Black-Panel”.
The sound art of Pius Morger is played back via a simple to operate sound system, which is supplied with the sculptures.

Pius Morger
Born 1957 in Zurich, Switzerland, professional education as a carpenter. Between 1981 and 1995 he realized four cinema films (author and director) and also worked as cutter and sound designer for various films. Since 1995 Pius Morger exclusively creates sound spaces for theatre, dance, museums and exhibitions.
His work as a sound artist is based on a basic idea: How to bring sound unobtrusively into a room, such that the sound for itself becomes a room. The sound is an organic – synthetic event. Pius Morger orients himself at the sounds and noises of the environment. Each sound he generates artificially and places it in an organic procedure in space. It is painting with sound.
